The $130 million Chadstone hotel in Melbourne, Australia, is a key element in the precinct’s masterplan, sitting alongside a 10-storey office tower and the Chadstone Shopping Centre.
Designed by Melbourne-based architects, Bates Smart, the 250-room MGallery by Sofitel hotel is being built to capitalise on the 23 million visitors to the centre each year and the nearby Monash precinct which employs 75,000 people.
The hotel will also have a day spa, gymnasium and rooftop infinity swimming pool, restaurants and bars and a ballroom capable of hosting up to 400 people.
The 12-storey hotel will become the first to target a 5-star Green Star rating using the Green Star – Design/As Built v1.1 rating tool.
A compressed construction timeline has been achieved through a collaborative client, contractor and consultant approach with the introduction of integrated structural prefabrication and an unitised curtain wall façade system. The building was “topped out” in December 2018 and the curtain wall façade is moving at pace in line with the tight design and construction program.
Inhabit is providing full façade consultancy services, full ESD consultancy services as well as engineering and certification services on the project.
The hotel is scheduled to open in late 2019.
