Songtsam Lodge Bingzhongluo

Songtsam, a renowned luxury boutique hotel collection located in the Yunnan province of China, has unveiled its 17th property: Songtsam Lodge Bingzhongluo. It is strategically located near the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Three Parallel Rivers region, known for its exceptional biodiversity and stunning natural beauty.

Inhabit’s specialist Lighting Team provided lighting design for the project.

The lodge combines traditional Tibetan architecture with modern luxury. The design features yellow rammed earth walls and shale sloped roofs, which reflect the region’s cultural heritage while offering a contemporary twist. The layout ensures that every room captures the awe-inspiring vistas of the Hengduan Mountains. Large floor-to-ceiling windows and glass terraces offer guests unobstructed views of the surrounding wheat fields, mountain ranges, and lush native gardens.

The project’s lighting design has been expertly crafted to complement the region’s natural environment. The area is characterised by its minimal light pollution, allowing for a truly serene and dark nighttime atmosphere. In response to this, the lighting design concept was inspired by the idea of a “lantern in the dark.” The soft, warm glow of the lodge’s lighting attracts visitors with its comforting radiance, providing a gentle illumination that contrasts beautifully with the surrounding terraced fields and mountains. Instead of harsh, glaring lights, the fixtures create a welcoming ambiance that draws attention to the lodge without disrupting the natural beauty of the landscape.

The curated integration of lighting details extends to the use of wood materials, enhancing the lodge’s rustic yet luxurious atmosphere. The warmth of the lighting complements the wooden surfaces throughout the property, creating an inviting, cozy feel. Whether inside the rooms or in the public spaces, the lighting is designed to highlight the natural textures of the wood and emphasize the warmth and tranquility of the space. This careful attention to detail ensures that the lighting not only serves a functional role but also enhances the overall experience of being immersed in the peaceful, undisturbed surroundings.
