Sculptured like a crystal, Sky Venture is a new indoor skydiving and climbing facility in Abu Dhabi. The project, developed by Miral, houses what aims to be the world’s largest indoor skydiving experience and indoor climbing wall, CLYMB.
Visitors to the skydiving simulator mimic the experience of skydiving within a 9.75 metre (32 feet) wide wind tunnel. At CLYMB, four climbing walls offer a challenge to all climbers from beginner to expert, the expert-level wall towering 43 meters above the ground.
The building’s form consists of a complex mega-triangle secondary skin which was developed parametrically. Inhabit was engaged for façade consultancy including façade design, parametric modelling and secondary steel structural design.
The secondary skin’s design sees 121 mega-triangles supported by 35 beams per mega triangle and 4300 beams all up. No two triangles were the same. The design included a parametric referencing system all the framing of each of the mega panels.
