Shanghai Axiom

Project AXIOM is a business complex located in Shanghai Yangpu District and is one of the key project developments in this district. This project consists of twin towers of 280m and 250m respectively and the developer is Tishman Speyer from the United States.

Currently, the project is in the process of façade installation. The 280m Tower A is estimated to be completed by the end of this year, and 250m Tower B will see its completion in the first quarter of next year. Upon completion, this building will be the tallest in Shanghai’s Yangpu District. The twin tower landmark will refresh the skyline of the district, standing at the entrance to northeastern Shanghai, conveniently connecting to key points in the city, and forming an urban mega Transport oriented Development (TOD) business community with comprehensive coverage of multiple modes of transportation to provide office, shopping, and entertainment functions.

The building’s name “AXIOM” is derived from the ancient Greek word meaning that which is worthy, symbolising that AXIOM can establish a new standard for office and lifestyle in the new era. The project’s 280m rooftop garden and 150m sky terrace connect to the Yangpu Eco-Green Axis, and the development is adjacent to the only 200-acre wetland eco-park in the Shanghai metropolitan area, showcasing Shanghai’s unique oasis cityscape, which reflects the city’s sense of innovation, modernity, and sustainability.

AXIOM aims to achieve Super Grade A office quality in that, its main façade systems include unitised curtain walls, stick walls, and metal cladding. For the project, Inhabit is collaborating with the internationally renowned architects Büro Ole Scheeren and providing full scope façade and BMU consultancy to the client. To incorporate lighting and ventilation seamlessly, the unitised tower façade system has a series of triangular-shaped vertical fins. There are large, unitised panels with deep mental fins on the rear of the tower and metal fins extending to the tower crown. To ensure the safety and reliability of these metal wings with a maximum cantilever of 15m, Inhabit’s engineering team carried out a detailed structural analysis, cleverly combining tie rods and steel structures to maintain a thin and light appearance as well as ensuring structural safety.

Xuekun Qian“AXIOM will create an open and collaborative oasis for business as a brand new landmark to promote cooperation and innovation among different enterprises and bring prosperity and vitality to Yangpu District, as well as creating an ‘Urban Green Valley’ landscape plaza to redefine the shared space and lead the development of the area into a brand new stage. With a forward-looking, people-centered approach, Inhabit has always been committed to creating sustainable buildings with attention to every detail. The project has now been awarded both LEED and 3-star China Green Building standards.”
