RUGBY AUSTRALIA BUILDING

When Inhabit was engaged by Façade Innovations to work on the Rugby Australia Building, the project became a collaboration between our Sydney, Melbourne, Shenzhen and Hong Kong teams.

Located in one of Sydney’s biggest sporting precincts at Moore Park, the building is the first facility of its kind in Australia to embed university programs in a sporting centre of excellence.  It is the new home of Rugby Australia and the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) sport and exercise science and physiotherapy programs and is a world-class high performance training facility.

UTS researchers and students will be based in the building with the Wallabies, the Wallaroos and the Australian Sevens teams, and the national headquarters for Indigenous and grassroots Rugby development. The building is also the new base for the Rugby Australia administration and has a purpose-built broadcast centre for Rugby.com.au to live stream and create online content.

As the Façade Engineer, Inhabit provided parametric modelling, fabrication packages and logistics inspections.

The project also involved the development of a 3D model for fabrication through Inhabit’s Hong Kong Office. Complex issues included the amount of sunshading  around diamond and curved elements in the building geometry.
