HUAWEI SONGSHAN LAKE R & D CAMPUS

Huawei Technologies, the largest IT company in China, was inspired by the scale and grandeur of Europe’s historic buildings to create a classical, European-style campus for its Research & Development (R & D) employees. To make the historical-style buildings a reality, they turned to Inhabit’s engineers.

Huawei has moved its R&D campus to a purpose-built development on the shore of Songshan Lake in Dongguan, People’s Republic of China, providing offices for 39,000 employees.

The campus has a total of 108 European-themed buildings modelled on various locations in England, France, Spain and other countries and linked together by a 7.8km commuter rail system.

The project’s total GFA is over 1 million square meters.

Inhabit was engaged by Huawei as façade consultant and Inhabit’s engineers used many masonry technologies to create the effect of historic buildings.
