CORPORATE SUITES

When a global company required a new client centre, architects Hassell designed the Corporate Suites, individual and group meeting spaces that combine the best in hospitality, workplace and meeting space design. They engaged Inhabit’s Specialist Lighting design team to create a timeless, elegant ambience through lighting.

The primary lighting feature is the expansive back-lit Barrisol ceiling, which gives the entire circulation area a soft, homogenous ambience for daily usage. During events and the evening, miniature spots, concealed in recessed ceiling channels, are used to provide pools of lighting onto furniture, the feature plants and the floor. The spots, combined with ability to dim the Barrisol features, allow for the space to take on a variety of different moods to suit specific events and usage.

Inhabit’s biggest challenge for this project was finding a way to back-light the Barrisol without exceeding the Lighting Power Density Requirements stipulated in the EMSD Code of Practice for Energy Efficiency of Building Services Installation in Hong Kong. The team weeded through a lot different LED strips to find one that would allow them to increase the spacing between the strip whilst achieving a homogenous glow.

This is a great example of how Inhabit’s diverse skill-set and approach to design allows our designers to adapt to a wide range of projects.
