Barrack Place, at 151 Clarence Street, Sydney, is a state-of-the-art office tower and boutique retail and food and beverage space in the city centre. The building sits in a precinct that was the traditional warehouse quarter of Central Sydney and has a number of significant heritage buildings.
Architectus has drawn inspiration from the carriageways and courtyards of the heritage merchant’s warehouses and designed an elegant glass tower that rises above a detailed brick podium which embodies the character of the surrounding precinct.
The 19-storey building was completed in late 2018 and has received a 6 Star Green Star rating as well as being the first building in Australia to receive the WELL Core & Shell Gold pre-certification by the International WELL Building Institute.
Inhabit provided façade consulting services for the array of materials and systems across the project including the tower curtain wall, podium windows system and bespoke shop front. Inhabit was also involved with reviewing and rationalizing the bespoke hand set masonry detailing and engineering considering the complex interface geometry, trade coordination, suspended brick, secondary support steel requirements, podium corbelling and the bespoke ‘mega corbel’ to the primary entry.
