Richard Grove Director | Europe

Based in Inhabit’s London offices and with a remit that covers the entire UK and Europe, Richard holds the position of Director | Europe for Inhabit. He has joined Inhabit having held the role of Acoustics Director at a major international architectural practice, providing design advice on some of the world’s most high-profile and significant projects.

Richard has worked in the built environment sector since graduating in Mechanical Engineering in 2005, subsequently going on to specialise in Acoustics and Vibration for all facets of the built environment and leading the acoustics and vibration designs on major high-profile schemes. His broad project and sector experience, covering workplace; education; performing arts; leisure and tourism; mixed-use residential and commercial; industrial; and major infrastructure projects, leads to the delivery of balanced advice to design and construction partners which carefully addresses aesthetic, performance and construction needs.

Being cognisant of the strong sensory links between the look and feel of a space, Richard seeks to seamlessly integrate design solutions into the architectural intent for an inclusive and inviting user experience, promoting positive health and wellbeing whilst maintaining flexibility for future generations. In doing so, minimal material intervention for maximum benefit is targeted, adding value to both environmental and social sustainability credentials and added value to clients and design teams.

Richard has been active within the industry through pro-bono participation on panels and steering groups and is a regular public speaker in both academic and industrial circles. Richard currently holds the position of Chair of the Acoustics Technician Apprenticeship Trailblazer Group, as well as providing a regular guest lecture at London South Bank University on the subject of sensory design.
