Gemma Ambrosio Associate | Melbourne
Gemma’s background in architecture has a focus in sustainable design practices. She is particularly interested in the intelligent adaption and repurposing of existing buildings and infrastructure to meets current needs. Gemma enjoys bringing together the architectural and technical requirements in creating comprehensive and considered façade detail. This attention to detail, and designing with an understanding of the procurement process and material limitations, ensures the design is achievable and the outcome is well considered and resolved.
Gemma has a wide range of project experience, including high-rise multi-residential, commercial, healthcare and educational projects, having taken such projects from initial concept design all the way through to the completion of construction.
Across her project experience she has worked not only on standard NCC compliant projects but also on progressive and aspirational projects. These include designing high-performance facades to PassiveHouse principles and multi-storey buildings constructed out of cross-laminated timber.
Gemma’s approach to problem solving and overcoming challenges is review, collaborate and provide input into issues to achieve resolution, this may be as they occur during design phase, shop drawing reviews or on-site due to existing and as-built conditions.
Some of her most significant projects are:
. Adina Hotel, 55 Southbank Boulevard, Southbank, Australia
