Inhabit team volunteers at FareShare

This week members of Inhabit’s Melbourne team volunteered at an Australian not-for-profit food rescue organisation as part of the company’s Corporate Social Responsibility agenda.

FareShare operates Australia’s largest charity kitchens and for the past 20 years has mobilised volunteers to cook delicious, free meals from rescued, donated and homegrown ingredients to improve the lives of Australians in hardship. Healthy and delicious meals are given away free to front line charities such as soup vans, homeless shelters, women’s refuges and community food banks. FareShare’s vision is that everyone has access to a nutritious meal every day.

On Monday 16th May 2022, the start of Australia’s National Volunteering Week, 12 team members were briefed on food handling safety and kitchen protocols, then joined two chefs in one of FareShare’s commercial kitchens to do food preparation tasks including chopping vegetables, preparing meat and packaging pastries. It was a great combination of everyone working hard for the good of others and a great team-building exercise enjoyed by all.

Wayne Sanderson, Regional Director| Australia and New Zealand comments:

“I would like to thank each of our Melbourne team members who were able to volunteer at FareShare. I truly appreciate that they gave their time to make a difference to people in need. While many of the wider Inhabit team volunteer for community groups and charities in their own time, this is one of many volunteer opportunities aligned with Inhabit’s Corporate Social Responsibility agenda. Through this program we will all be able to build on our culture for making a difference as a positive force in society.”
