DAVID HUNTON, RETIREMENT

It is with personal regret but warm wishes that I announce the retirement of David Hunton, Technical Director, Melbourne effective Friday July 21st 2017.

David’s departure marks the end of an era for Inhabit, but more widely, the construction industry in general. With a career spanning more than 40 years, David’s personal reputation, technical excellence and industry regard is part of a lasting legacy in the Australian built environment.

It’s not an understatement to say that David’s contributions and focus in delivering outstanding façade engineering and commercial solutions has benefited every project, professional and organisation he has worked with. The regard he is held by both colleagues and competitors is second to none.

From Inhabit’s perspective, David established the Melbourne office in 2011 and has been instrumental in guiding the business ever since. His mentoring outlook, professional integrity and experience is something we can all strive for. On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are indebted to his vision and commitment to leading us to our present position in the industry. His commitment and standards of work, has assured our success into the future.

On a personal note, I first met David in 1998, and had the pleasure of sitting across the table with him as consultant on the same job. I was the new kid on the block and was a little intimidated by his reputation, a fact of which he was fully aware of.

In hindsight, what really stood out for me was David’s immediate empathy and inclusive approach towards me. It has impacted the way I’ve evolved as a leader and how we’ve evolved as a business and I will personally miss his steady influence and balanced outlook.

David was honoured for his contributions in a farewell luncheon on Friday 21st July 2017.
