Building Physics Virtual Forum

“Is the current Australian building code doing enough to ensure homes are both safe, healthy and comfortable?” This is the question Samantha Anderson will be addressing at an AIRAH Building Physics Virtual Forum on September 17.

The Australian Institute of Refrigeration, Air conditioning and Heating (AIRAH) is an independent, specialist, not-for-profit technical organisation providing leadership in the Heating, Ventilation, Air conditioning and Refrigeration sector

“In a year of catastrophic bushfires, floods and a global pandemic, it has never been more important for our homes to be a sanctuary, a safe place from the outside world.

Fire, flood and then global pandemic all forced people to shelter in place, for months on end,” Samantha says.

“The underlying assumption through all of the varied disasters was that our homes are safe. They may protect us from the immediate threat, but are they providing a space that is healthy for extended periods of time? This year should be our catalyst for change; how do we make buildings health positive?”
