Biyal-a Library wins New Construction Grand Prize
The Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library, a new regional library and community hub located in Armstrong Creek, Victoria, has won the New Construction Grand Prize in the Green Solutions Awards and is now heading to the international finals during COP30 Brazil in November.
The library is a AUD$21.8 million facility design by Buchan and inspired by a ‘living water’ design narrative developed with the Wadawurrung Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation and the City of Greater Geelong.
Inhabit helped the project target a 5-Star Green Star rating, with a strong focus on energy efficiency, low-carbon materials, and user comfort.
Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library is one of two Egis projects to win at the Green Solutions Awards, which recognise and promote exemplary sustainable building, district, and infrastructure projects combatting climate change.
Gregory Rice, Director – Building Physics and Sustainability ANZ, said: “The Biyal-a Armstrong Creek Library project meets the ground with rich historical and respectful connection to the land on which it is built. Critically, the sustainable design attributes lighten the load of the building on the environment, through careful consideration of materials, systems and user experience and comfort.”
Green Riyadh (Saudi Arabia), an ambitious urban greening initiative with Egis as Project Manager, won the User’s Choice District Prize. Egis is honoured to receive two awards for projects which exemplify our ability to deliver innovative and replicable solutions that combine technical excellence, environmental performance, and long-term value for communities worldwide.
