NEW HORIZONS, MONASH UNIVERSITY

The New Horizons Research Centre in Melbourne, Australia, was constructed for Monash University and the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). The centre is a world-class technology and innovation hub for future manufacturing research, education and industry collaboration.

The building is a reinforced concrete structure of approximately 20,000 sqm over 4 levels. It is enclosed with an ‘iconic’ façade representing the high-tech nature of the research activities conducted within. The façade comprises a unitised façade system and bespoke Kalzip cladding systems.

Inhabit provided façade detailing, consulting, engineering services and finished fabrication consulting. Inhabit also played a key role in the quality assurance, logistics and project management of this project including engineering certification. With such a large-scale project, spanning more than 12 months, Inhabit managed both quality and risk, assigning six engineers to ensure validation and verification of work was undertaken efficiently and seamlessly. This resulted in being able to run concurrently with the fabrication and construction phases.
