New appointments: Acoustics and ESD
Categories: News
New challenges face our industry and those businesses involved in servicing it, with outcomes based on value for money, quality, measurable results and sustainable practices. Inhabit has found that traditional construction processes using engineering consulting and architectural expertise are being complimented in large scale building projects by niche expertise – Acoustic design and Ecologically Sustainable Design (ESD).
Both disciplines have the benefit of introducing medium to long term benefits and gains to our built environment. A number of Inhabit’s recent projects have shown that the involvement of these two disciplines in our façade consulting areas has yielded immediately measurable and tangible results.
It is with this in mind, that we are pleased to announce the appointment of two senior staff members to the Inhabit Group who are tasked with taking forward these two areas:
Tom Candalepas – Associate, Acoustics
Tom’s experience includes working on some of the most well-known landmark building projects within the Australian construction space and has over 10 years experience.
Tom’s areas of expertise include the undertaking of commissions to provide advice relating to almost every aspect of noise and vibration design or analysis, with a confidence that has developed from many years of design and verified project experience. With specific experience in building acoustics including design for theatre and room acoustics, environmental noise and vibration assessments and occupational noise exposure assessments and mitigation.
Recent experience at Fox Studios, Gore Hill and Infinity Tower, Brisbane includes the refining of glazing to meet the collective acoustic, ESD and structural requirements.
Tom is based in the Inhabit Sydney office.
Darren O’Dea – ESD Manager
Having recently relocated from Vietnam, where he was involved at the policy level of Ecologically Sustainable Design within the construction industry and partnering with the Government, Darren’s arrival sees the introduction and strengthening of the ESD discipline within Inhabit Group. Based in the Melbourne office, Darren’s remit includes growing the ESD consultancy, with project involvement, hiring and implementing a program framework across the business to ensure ESD is integrated smoothly into Inhabit’s existing services.
Darren has built upon Inhabit’s integrated approach to façade consulting by managing the creation of the InEnergy™ Section J compliance and assessment tool, offering a rapid and reliable way to validate architectural designs early in the concept design stage.
